Station House Dental Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. Everyone who visits our practice has the right to be safe, and safeguarding is the responsibility of every member of our team.

What we do

  • We have a designated safeguarding lead who staff can raise concerns with, and a practice safeguarding policy that all team members follow.
  • All clinical and patient-facing staff complete safeguarding training for children and adults at a level appropriate to their role, kept up to date as part of their continuing professional development.
  • Staff are subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks where required.
  • We follow the procedures of the local safeguarding partnerships for our area, and we cooperate fully with local authorities, the police and other agencies where a concern is raised.
  • Concerns are recorded and shared only with those who need to know, in line with our Privacy Policy, the Caldicott Principles and our duty of confidentiality — which the law allows us to set aside where someone is at risk of serious harm.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about the safety or welfare of a child or an adult at risk — whether or not they are a patient of this practice — you can speak in confidence to any member of our team, call us on 01282 965286, or email teeth@stationhousebarnoldswick.com.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also contact Lancashire County Council’s safeguarding teams (for children or adults) or the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.

All our clinicians are registered with the General Dental Council — you can check the GDC register at gdc-uk.org.
