Are Dentures Better Than Implants?

Neither is universally better — the right choice depends on your health, budget and priorities.

When Dentures Win

Dentures (from £486.20) are better if: budget is limited, you need to replace many teeth quickly, your jawbone cannot support implants without grafting, or your health prevents surgery.

When Implants Win

Implants (from £2,500) are better if: you want a long-lasting solution, you want to preserve jawbone, you want maximum comfort and function, or you find dentures uncomfortable.

The Middle Ground

Implant-retained dentures (from £4,200) combine the affordability of dentures with the stability of implants — 2-4 implants anchor your denture securely.

A Note from Dr Sarah Metias, Principal Dentist

In my clinical practice at Station House, I've seen the difference implants make to patients' quality of life first-hand. Dentures are a valid starting point — they're fast, affordable, and reversible — but the majority of patients who proceed to implants choose not to go back. The key variable is bone density. I always assess this before recommending implants, and we include that assessment at your £40 consultation before you commit to anything.
