Clinical studies consistently show that hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide — the active ingredients in professional whitening — do not damage healthy tooth enamel when used at the correct concentration and duration. The key word is "professional." GDC-supervised whitening uses carefully controlled formulations.
Professional vs Shop-Bought
Shop-bought whitening products are legally limited to very low concentrations (0.1% hydrogen peroxide). Prescription professional whitening uses up to 6% hydrogen peroxide — far more effective and actually safer because it is supervised by your dentist. Illegal whitening products sold online can contain dangerously high concentrations that do damage enamel.
