You have thought about straightening your teeth for years

Maybe you had braces as a teenager and your teeth shifted back. Maybe you never had them at all, and the crowding has always bothered you. Maybe you cover your mouth when you laugh, or you tilt your head in photos so the gap does not show.

You have probably thought about fixing it — and then thought: I am too old for braces. Or: I cannot afford it. Or: I do not want metal on my teeth for two years in my thirties, forties, fifties.

That is exactly why Invisalign exists. Clear aligners that straighten your teeth without anyone noticing. Removable, so you eat and brush normally. And at Station House, we plan every case with a 3D digital scan so you see your predicted result before you commit to anything.

What Invisalign can treat

Crowded teeth — when teeth overlap or twist because there is not enough space in the jaw. This is the most common reason patients come to us for aligners.

Gaps between teeth — including a central diastema (the gap between your two upper front teeth). Aligners close gaps gradually and predictably.

Mild to moderate bite issues — overbite, underbite, crossbite and open bite can all be improved with Invisalign, depending on severity. Your clinician will assess this at consultation.

Teeth that have shifted after previous orthodontics — relapse after teenage braces is very common. Invisalign can realign teeth that have moved back over the years.

When Invisalign may not be suitable: severe skeletal bite problems, significant jaw discrepancies, or cases requiring large vertical tooth movements. If Invisalign is not the right option for you, we will tell you honestly at consultation and discuss alternatives. We would rather turn down a case than deliver a poor result.

How we approach Invisalign differently

We plan carefully, not quickly

Your 3D scan is reviewed in detail before we propose a treatment plan. We do not rush you into aligners at a single appointment. You get a written plan, take it home, and decide in your own time.

We set realistic expectations

If your case will take 14 months, we say 14 months — not "as little as 6 months" to close the sale. You see your predicted result on screen before committing. No surprises during treatment.

We monitor progress properly

Review appointments every 6 to 8 weeks, in person, with your clinician — not a quick check by a nurse. If teeth are not tracking as planned, we adjust early rather than hoping for the best.

Retainers are part of the plan

Teeth will move back without retention. We include retainers in every Invisalign plan and explain exactly how long you need to wear them. This is not an optional extra — it is how results last.

How treatment works

1
Consultation and scan

Full clinical examination. 3D digital scan of your teeth using an iTero scanner — no messy impressions. We discuss your goals and assess whether Invisalign is the right option.

2
Your smile preview

We show you a 3D animation of how your teeth will move, stage by stage, and what your final result will look like. You see the outcome before you commit. Written quote included.

3
Wear your aligners

You receive a series of custom aligners, each worn for 1–2 weeks. Wear them 20–22 hours daily — remove only to eat and brush. Most people will not notice you are wearing them.

4
Reviews and retainers

Progress checks every 6–8 weeks with your clinician. When treatment is complete, you are fitted with retainers to keep your teeth in their new position permanently.

No pressure at any stage. You can pause or stop treatment at any point.

Common concerns

"Will people notice I'm wearing them?"

Almost certainly not. Invisalign aligners are made from clear medical-grade plastic that fits tightly over your teeth. Most patients tell us that colleagues, friends and even partners did not notice until they were told. You can also remove them for important events — a presentation, a wedding, a date — and put them back in afterwards.

"Does it hurt?"

You will feel pressure when you switch to a new aligner — typically for the first 2 to 3 days. It is not pain so much as tightness. Most patients describe it as a dull ache that fades quickly. It means the aligners are working. Over-the-counter painkillers are rarely needed after the first few sets.

"How long does treatment take?"

Typically 6 to 18 months, depending on the complexity of your case. Mild crowding can be resolved in 6 to 9 months. More complex cases may take 12 to 18 months. Your clinician will give you an accurate timeline at consultation — not an optimistic estimate designed to close a sale.

"What if I'm not suitable?"

We will tell you. Not every case is right for Invisalign, and we would rather be honest at consultation than start treatment that will not deliver a good result. If aligners are not suitable, we will explain why and discuss what alternatives exist. The £40 consultation fee is refunded if you proceed with any treatment.
