Loose Tooth Treatment
A loose adult tooth is not normal. It usually means advanced gum disease or trauma. Call us for urgent assessment — early treatment can save the tooth.
Emergency from £67.20. Consultation £40.
Why adult teeth become loose
The most common cause is periodontitis — advanced gum disease that has destroyed supporting bone. Other causes include trauma, grinding, or a failed restoration. A loose tooth is a warning sign requiring urgent attention.
If the cause is gum disease, the infection is active — other teeth may be at risk.
How we treat it
Assessment, X-rays, bone level evaluation. For gum disease: intensive deep cleaning can stabilise the tooth if enough bone remains. Splinting may bond the loose tooth to stable neighbours. If the tooth cannot be saved, gentle extraction with replacement options discussed.
When to call us
Call as soon as you notice looseness. Do not wiggle the tooth. Eat on the opposite side. The sooner the cause is treated, the better the chance of keeping the tooth.
